The East Building

A view to the East Building of the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C. The building was designed my I. M. Pei (and it shows, right down to the little mini-Louvre pyramids out the front). Saved by Henry Moore’s sculpture outside the doors, which it accommodates knowingly.
Update: In response to Richard’s comment about the building being sharp:

That’s not even the most acute angle you can squeeze out of it. Standing right in front of it and looking up it seems as if that arm of the building might almost disappear.
I found the arrangements of people riding the escalator inside fun to watch.

The corners on that thing are sharp enough so you could cut yourself on them. I love that building.

Love your shots, Jeremy! Here are mine from the same photo outing.

I’m not into this field but I was really astonished by this design. Sharp edges are not something one can always find around.

So many people have walked up to that sharp edge to touch it that it looks like it’s wearing away. It isn’t; the oil from their fingers turns black on the stone, creating this optical illusion that the building is eroding.

Most impressive: Escape from reality.
