Nougat centres abound

In October 2002 after reading a story about the composition of the earth’s core, I made what I thought was a somewhat funny gag about the planet having a chewy nougat centre. Hardy ha, I thought, and left it at that.

For Christmas last year I received The Complete Cartoons of The New Yorker in which I found this by one of my favourite contemporary cartoonists in the magazine (I should point out, I’d never seen this cartoon before):

OK, it’s not the most startlingly original gag to begin with, but I was only off by a single word (creamy/chewy). Damn! I could have had a career drawing for the New Yorker! If only I could draw. And was funny.

You know what, I just realized in the other post that you are in Japan… I’m still good on that offer though! ;)

Maybe it was the “nougat force” that we are all connected to allowing you to “see” the nougat truth!
