Moon shot

moon_20060211.jpg

It’s been warming up here and days the can get a little hazy, but at night the air still seems so clear. I couldn’t resist taking a picture of the moon tonight. When it’s just shy of full the shadows down at the edge give you a better sense of the landscape.

What is your camera setup?

Holy wow! My pictures of the moon never come out.

This was through a 200mm lens with a 1.4x teleconverter.

If want to get detail in the moon, you need to spot meter on the moon itself so it’s not over-exposed.

Such a beautiful picture. I also like snow pictures. Basically I love color, but your pictures are showing the traditional Japanese quiet which we often forget in daily life. I am looking forward to seeing new pictures.

beautiful moon . Where abouts did you take it? I felt a deep meaning there. ..

The moon just came out of the clouds here in germany. I wish I had more than 3x zoom ;). Do you have high-res pictures available for personal use ?

That is just beautiful! Wow.

Gorgeous moon.

It’s handy to have a high-res moon to include into other photos to make them more dramatic.

You have motivated me to try a moon shot with my new tripod and 300mm next cloudless night :-)

Ahhh, a lovely image JH. Just last night we watched the full moon rise over the Swan River from the shore line at Matilda Bay. It had been a typically hot Perth summers day and the yellow glow of the moon seemed to suck the heat from the air just as the first licks of sea breeze started drifting in. Just to complete the scene in an oh-that’s-so-Perth way, a dolphin bobbed up in the reflected moonlight, carving long, graceful swathes across the surface. Nice stuff…

The moon hangs lower over Jeremy’s house. Gorgeous picture. As for metering, can’t you just use the “Sunny 16” rule? After all, it’s just another sunlit object…

Beautiful picture! I can’t help but wonder, though, did you take this picture near Tokyo? I noticed when visiting Saitama it is hard to see many stars for all the light pollution.

Yeah, this picture of the moon is incredibly good. I’m jealous of any camera you have that would take photos like this!
