A rough coast through a long lens. This was taken from the verandah of the room where we were staying.
That’s not sky at the top of the picture, by the way — I was shooting into a mountain:

Beautiful. Where did you stay on Yakushima? Would you recommend it to anyone planning a visit to the island?

That is so beautiful. It almost looks like a painting because of the abstraction of the shot. Nice work.

Really really beautiful, magical almost. Any chance we get to see higher-res versions of these?

Wow! I actually live on the island of Yakushima and you have captured the beauty like no other pictures I’ve ever seen.

Jeremy, are you on a short hiatus from this blog? Please keep up the great work! Your photography and attention to detail in Japanese culture is very inspiring.
I’ve been to Japan twice and your blog has always been a great way to feel like I’m still there.

Hello! Nice to meet you!
I’m Japanese man studying English. I browsed your blog. You have original idea, I guess.
Althogh I am strange to write blog in English, I write blog in English and Japanese. So native speakers who are visiting constantly point out the mistakes on my blog! They flatters me!
I think I could learn from you.
Have a good day!

Beautiful imagery ! Did you use a filter to get those gorgeous variated shades of olive tinted gray? I would like to know if you get a chance.
Thanks,
Glenn

I can’t imagine that a mountain would look like some sort of a pale crystal at some point being viewed by a long lens….
You did some state of the art picture in this post of yours..
It’s a treasure finding this blog of yours and mine is the sort that only relies on visiting other blogs (beautiful blogs like this).

A little flicker of hope leaps up in my mind whenever I check your blog that maybe today is the day you added a new entry or some photos.
Posted by uchuunavi 2007.01.03, 23:38
Mm…
Me too. I keep checking back to see more… especially such beautyful pics… and keep on wondering whether it’s something good or bad that is keeping you from posting again.
I hope you’re having fun, and not problems…

Thanks for the lovely thoughts, and kind words. It’s mostly good things that have kept me away — a new job (and lots more). One of these days I’ll get around to explaining … when the dust settles.
Sincere apologies to you for checking back only to find me letting things down.

As others have said, I hope you are able to return and continue sharing the wonderful photos.

Jed - Bass has kept me up to date with all that is happening, so from the Cookster household, good luck with your change of direction and look forward to catching up when you’re back in the land of bore water, bogans, boondies and bull ants.
Make sure you check out my blog post about Donnie Davies - a man for our times…
