It’s Astro Boy’s birthday (which I almost forgot to mention). Dr. Tenma, Director of the Japanese Science Agency, created Astro Boy (鉄腕アトム — Tetsuwan Atomu, or “Strong Arm Atom” as he’s known in Japanese) on April 7, 2003 in Takadanobaba (not far from Shinjuku). Astro Boy was sold to a robot show and then rescued by Dr. Ochanomizu.
Tezuka Osamu, Astro Boy’s creator, died in 1989. What a shame he’s not around for the birthday.

lil —- that just takes the cake. What a scream.
There was a picture of a girl dressed up in one of the papers. She had those big manga eyes painted on her face and it took me a moment to realise they weren’t real. Kind of creepy.
Someone once did a series of Photoshopped images of real people with facial features adjusted to match those found in manga —- the big eyes, the little pointy noses. Did you ever see it? Wish I could find that link….

Great job. I attended the AstroBoy party in Takadanaba in Tokyo in April, i must say it was a flop, but i enjoyed the feeling of being here in Japan at this time..u gotta love Atom
