Picnic in a snow dome

Even the scraggly sakura are beautiful — horrendous pruning can’t keep this one from doing what it is they do this time of year (just bloom and bloom and bloom).
It’s been quite something of a show this year. A rainy start gave way to a wonderful weekend and then the rain returned — and how — during the week. Yet it seemed to come early enough not to knock the blossoms from their branches, and the trees bloom on, determined to have another weekend of glory.
The petal have begun raining down and any trips to the park will be like picnicing inside a snow dome.

That’s so lovely!
I just went to the cherry trees in Washington DC, and they look almost the same, even though these trees are 4000-odd miles away from you.
Uncanny, isn’t it?

What a nice and clean composition. Almost like something from a studio yet it isnt.
I think the top image would do really well as a wallpaper, made tiny bit of overlay to reduce contrast.
Would you be able to make it avaiable in 1024x768 or so?
:-)

Again, a superb photo that would make a lovely desktop wallpaper. May I suggest 1280 x 1024 size as well as others?
Keep up the great work.

As I’ve had to wade through hours of wind, rain, and hail in Manchester, UK, this is a beautiful escape. Will someone buy me a ticket to Japan?

Lovely pictures!
I just returned from a 2 week trip to Japan, and most of my time was spent in Yonomori (about a 4 hour bus ride north of Tokyo), which is apparently fairly well-known for its sakura. I made it there just in time for the annual bloom, and I have to say, despite the beauty of these photos (and the hundreds that I took while I was there), nothing compares to experiencing it in person…
